It all started at volleyball when I saw Mrs. H for the first time in awhile and said hi! I had actually just been thinking of her because I had taken their family photos last year around this time, and whenever I go by that field around golden hour, it reminds me of those golden buttery photos. :) I told her that I had been thinking of her + their photos recently and was just hoping that she was liking them! "Actually," she said, "I've been thinking of you too and wondering if I should schedule another photoshoot for this year, or if it's too late in the year?"

Oooh!!

I told her I didn't think it was too late and that I would totally be game for another photoshoot! "Will 4:30 on Saturday work??"

I showed up to the field a bit early and went in search of the perfect light. I always schedule my shoots around the golden buttery light, but even though that light is gorgeous, it is quite intense and not just any spot on the planet will do to shoot during that time. It needs to be soft and even and workable. So I hiked around a bit in two coats and all of my gear (I seem to always overestimate how cold it's going to be) until I got quite hot. I found a couple small little spots that *might* do if I needed them, but were not ideal because of quality and size. Finally, I FOUND a spot! I was thrilled, but it was going to be sort of hard to work around because it was right at the edge of a path and really squished up against the border bushes. And it was on a hill. Hm... I sent my assistant (my sister :D) back to our starting spot with both of my coats - haha- and all my gear while I went a little further and prayed for a better spot.

Praise the Lord, I found it!! A spot in the actual field itself that was totally large enough for their whole family and of great quality light. So yay!

I checked my phone. It was three minutes before they were arriving, so I hurried back to the spot and prayed over the photoshoot like I always do as I walked.

When we were all walking to the spot I had found, Mr. H and I got talking... I asked him about what they've been up to recently and he told me about something really fascinating! He told me that he likes to go to places like this field with high-quality sound and video equipment, set up his gear, and film for about an hour, capturing the sounds and sights of the landscape. It's a thing called "soundscapes." He told me that people like to listen to them as background noise when they're studying or working, and some people even like to watch the whole thing through, haha! You can be sure I definitely asked for his YouTube channel. :):)

I'm currently listening to this one while I'm writing this blog post:

Anyway, we had SUCH a fun shoot!!! I had a lot of fun being especially creative this time. I tried out a lot of things that weren't even in the posing course and it was just a ton of fun. I kind of think that a photographer has got to try some things out for herself sometimes. :) We started with some updated profile pics for Mr. H and ended with a BANG shot! Scroll to the end to see my favorite photo!! :D

May God be exalted,

What is YOUR favorite photo?? :D
