DIY Month: How To Crochet Hangers

These hangers are probably not fashionable (who knows???) but who cares about (and who can keep up with) fashion? These hangers keep my clothes from forever falling off my hangers and landing on my floor, so I like them. Here's how to make your own crocheted hangers:

You will need:

1. A Hanger

2. A Crochet Hook

3. A Ball Of Yarn

4. A Pair Of Scissors

Step 1: Make a loose knot in your yarn.

Step 2: Stick your hook through the knot and pull it tight.

Step 3: Pull it through under the hanger and hold the yarn in your left hand as shown in the picture

Step 4: Holding the crochet hook in your right hand, bring it over to meet the string on the left side of the hanger, and hook it on the end of the hook. Pull it through the loop already on the hook.

Step 5: Pull it through the loop already on the hook.

Step 6: As you can see from the picture above, the yarn is in between my two fingers. Use your two fingers to pull the yarn tight.

Step 7: Push the crochet hook under the hanger and grab the yarn again. Pull it under the hanger to the other side. Pull it through the loop on the crochet hook. Pull tight.

Step 7: Repeat. Going over the hanger, grab the string on the left with the crochet hook, and bring back over the hanger. Pull through the loop on the hook. Pull tight. Then go under the hanger and bring the string under the hanger. Pull through the loop on the hook. Pull tight. Do a stitch on top of the hanger. Do a stitch under the hanger. Over, under, over under, until it looks something like *drumroll please...* this!!!

You're probably thinking, "that doesn't look like the picture on the top." You're right. It doesn't. It won't until *drumroll please...* you scrunch it up like this!!! AND you use the same yarn. :D Simply push the stitches all together, and keep going.

When you are done crocheting, pull your hook out.

See that string hanging out? Pull it through the loop to make a knot.

Then loosely wrap it around the hanger.

That string hanging out you want to wrap up and through the loop there, to make another knot. Keep doing that until the string isn't long enough for any more knots and then cut the string. You are done!!!! These hangers are addicting to make once you've got the hang of it. I've already made a bunch, and I haven't had one piece of clothing fall to the ground since I made them. :D Victory!
